The starter kit: 11 addons, about 10 minutes

Chosen for one rule: each one makes the first levels easier and works with almost no setup.
| Addon | What it does for you | Setup | Link |
|---|---|---|---|
| BugSack + BugGrabber | Catches Lua errors silently instead of popping them up mid-fight; a must-have, because ported addons and even the default interface throw errors in Forever | None; /bugsack to read errors | BugSack, BugGrabber |
| Questie | Quest givers, objectives and the mobs you need on your map and minimap; Forever's new quests are still being added | 1 minute | CurseForge |
| or ForeverQuest | Made for Forever: quest tracker, map markers, a dotted line on the minimap to your objective and buttons for usable quest items, so you click them without opening bags | 1 minute | CurseForge |

| Leatrix Maps | Zone levels on the world map, unexplored areas shown, a map you can resize | None | CurseForge |
| Baganator | All bags in one window sorted by category, and a search across all your characters | 1 minute | CurseForge |

| What's Training? (Forever) | Every spell your class can learn, by level, with the trainer price: you skip ranks you do not need and save gold | None | CurseForge |
| Prat 3.0 | Chat with timestamps, class colors, copy and filters | 1 minute | CurseForge |
| CrossIgnore | A spam filter for chat and an ignore list with no limit | None | CurseForge |
| GTFO | A sound when you stand in fire or poison | None | CurseForge |
Pro tip
Install one quest helper, not two. Questie has the biggest quest database; ForeverQuest is built for Forever and adds the line to your objective and quest item buttons. Running both draws two sets of markers on your map.
Set it up in 5 minutes
- BugSack: nothing to do. A small icon by the minimap turns red when an addon errors; click it only if something breaks.
- Questie or ForeverQuest: in the options, turn on markers for quests you have not taken yet, and turn off the ones for quests far below your level.
- Leatrix Plus (type /ltp): turn on automatic repair, selling junk and faster looting; turn on quest automation if you want quests accepted and handed in for you.
- Leatrix Maps: works as soon as it is installed; drag the corner of the map to resize it.
- Baganator: open your bags and pick the category view.
- Prat 3.0: turn on timestamps and class colors; leave the rest.
- What's Training?: open the spellbook and click its button before you visit a trainer.

Where players disagree
Some players keep using "Load out of date AddOns" to run their old Classic setup. Others say it causes more errors than it saves time, and recommend starting fresh with Forever versions.
If something breaks
- Open BugSack and look at which addon the error names.
- Update all addons in the CurseForge app: many fixes ship within days of a patch.
- Still broken: turn off half your addons, type /reload, and narrow it down until you find the one.
- If your game is not in English and the world map is green or the character stats are empty, small fix addons exist: Degreen World Map Forever and Fix Stats Forever. Remove them once Blizzard fixes the bug.
Do
- Turn on the Cooldown Manager and the Damage Meter before installing addons.
- Install BugSack and BugGrabber first.
- Pick one quest helper: Questie or ForeverQuest.
- Use the CurseForge app with the
WoW Forever version selected. - Spend 5 minutes on Leatrix Plus, Baganator and Prat 3.0 settings.
- Update addons after every patch.
Skip
- Installing WeakAuras or TradeSkillMaster: they do not work in Forever.
- Running two quest helpers at once.
- Downloading the Classic file of an addon.
- Ticking "Load out of date AddOns" for every old addon.
